 Cynomolgus monkeys are also known as long-tailed monkeys and Java monkeys. They are native chiefly to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and India’s Andaman and Nicobar islands, are found in many small islands in Southeast Asia and inhabit tropical rain forests, mangrove swamps, banks of tidal rivers and other tropical islands and shores. They are national second-class primarily protected animals. They like forage for crabs and shellfish on seashores after the tide has ebbed, hence the name cynomolgus monkey.

Cynomolgus monkeys are smaller than rhesus monkeys, covered with yellow, gray and brown hair, abdominal hair and hair on the inner side of the four limbs have a whitish color; the crest hair falls backward, there are cirri on the face, skins around the eyes are naked, there is a white triangle area on the upper part of the eyelid; the ears are erect and eyes dark. The tail length is equal to or greater than the body length. Adult male cynomolgus monkeys weigh about 5kg and adult female cynomolgus about 3kg.
